End of Year report from the Board of Management 2022/2023
The Board of Management is delighted to publish its end-of-year newsletter looking back on an excellent year, where we all worked really hard.
In September we welcomed our new Junior Infant class of 2022/23.
The boys settled in really well and have had a great year with Ms. O’Donoghue.
It was a different Christmas celebration in Scoil Fhursa in 2022. Mr. Stynes was getting ready to retire. So instead of our annual Carol Service in the hall, the whole school community celebrated Mr. Stynes 16 years of service in Scoil Fhursa in St. Luke’s church. We had a beautiful mass, the boys sang their hearts out. A lot of hard work went into this day …. We were like the secret service rehearsing for the day while Mr. Stynes wasn’t around! The community gave him a great send off. Thank you to everyone for a memorable day!
Mr. Liam Ryan took over the responsibility of the running of the school after Christmas. He’s doing a great job and we wish him many happy years as Principal of Scoil Fhursa.
Ms. Noreen Shortall was appointed the new Deputy Principal….. the first female Deputy Principal in the history of Scoil Fhursa. Congratulations!
We also welcomed Fr. Padraig O’Sullivan as the new Chairperson of our Board of Management.

In May 2023 the boys from Scoil Fhursa and the girls from Scoil Íde celebrated the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation together in St. Luke’s Church. This was the first time for both schools to be together for this special occasion since Covid. Well done to all of the families and the children.
We had our “Garden Alcove” totally renovated thanks to Aramark who donated funding, materials and people power! We would also like to thank PACE Social Enterprise in Santry for making our garden furniture.
It’s a great asset to the school as it can be used as an outdoor classroom, a games area for boys, a sensory area, an area for coffee mornings….. the possibilities are endless [weather permitting!]
Thank you to everyone for their input.
